International Sport Leader

Great transformations happen when we get involved.

After a long and successful sports career, Marcos found in international forums on sports public policy the ideal setting to share his knowledge gained from all his experiences in sports, his academic background, and state expertise.

The lessons learned in sports, his professional training, and an innate charismatic leadership opened doors for Marcos to lead high-relevance projects in international organizations on issues related to the protection and preservation of the integrity and positive values of sports.

From developing public policies for youth sports and combating doping in sports, to leading commissions and working groups for reviewing good governance structures of international organizations, drafting and composing legislative pieces, directing teams and multilateral organizations are some of the actions that Marcos has undertaken after retiring from professional sports.

Marcos served as Vice Minister of Sports in his country for eight years, President of the American Sports Council (CADE) for four years, a member of the Executive Committee of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) for six years, President of the International Convention Against Doping in Sports at UNESCO for four years, and is a member of the Commission for Public Affairs and Corporate Communications of the International Olympic Committee.
