A life around sports and the sea

Sport has been closely present in Marcos' life since he started practicing swimming at the age of 6 on medical recommendations. This forced beginning marked the discovery of a world to which he would passionately belong forever.

In childhood, adolescence, and adulthood, sport has been an essential axis in Marcos' life.

His beginnings in swimming would be key to strengthening his health, integrating into competitions, and excelling as a child swimmer.

In adolescence, his passion for the sea leads him to discover the world of surfing, where he stands out competitively as part of the National Surf Team of the Dominican Republic for three consecutive years. Realizing the institutional shortcomings of the sport in the country at a very young age, he, along with a small group of friends, created the Dominican Surfing Association (ADOSURF); an entity that at the time governed the sport and provided the opportunity for him and other athletes to represent the country in international surfing competitions.

His desire to explore his limits and capabilities leads him to formally practice Triathlon, where he becomes part of the national team of the Dominican Republic for competitions in what was then the Caribbean Triathlon Circuit.

In practicing triathlon, he discovers open water swimming, and it is from this swimming discipline that the sport takes on another level, allowing him to develop a successful career as an Ultra Distance Open Water Swimmer.

After retiring from competitive sports, Marcos continues with a very active lifestyle, with the sea as his great passion and stage where he practices surfing, freediving, prone paddleboarding, spearfishing, among others.

Marcos promotes a healthy lifestyle in harmony with the enjoyment, respect, and protection of the environment.

“For Marcos, ‘practicing sport’ is a commitment to himself and an educational value for a better society.”
